Finally. That experiment seemed to take an ungodly amount of time, with all the light gone. And I don't enjoy being used as a living lantern.

I guess this means I can finally do something. Like wash my hair... And build a shelter. [barely audible grumbling here]

Oh. There's quicksand out in the forest. Don't go getting stuck in it like a stupid pair of humans did earlier. I'm not feeling particularly generous about pulling people out anymore.

[A noticeable pause as he considers something.]

Has anyone seen a red stone pendant? I need it back.

...And the Kelfes moon is out. It's lovely.

The Dwarves used to be a prominent race as well. However, their numbers have been thinning severely over the last few millennia.

It's a complicated story. They betrayed their own vows and decided to lend their skills to a false god. As a result, they became slaves of their own work. Their race could no longer move forward with the rest of the world and they've started to walk down the path of extinction.

...My world is made up of two races -- those of the water, Ferines, and those of the land, Orerines. The Orerines are an intruding race that appeared thounsands of years ago, and the Ferines have been subjected to ... torture and destruction at their hands.

The Ferines are ... a peaceful race, by nature. We don't have the means to fight back like the Orerines do, or the numbers to properly rebel. So we've been forced apart, divided throughout the Orerines countries.

They can't leave us alone.

It is normal for any being to fear what is different. Following that, they will try to defend themselves. Those with the highest numbers and strength will prevail in the resulting war.

How sad that even the most intelligent species are subjected to survival of the fittest.

If you have no means to fight back and nowhere to hide, there aren't many options left. It is impossible to change the world's natural order, simply because it is impossible for one species to be completely accepted by the other.

I've been around long enough to know these things. One man can't make a difference, neither can ten. Even if you managed to convince the entire world to see things your way, there will always be one idiot capable of causing a calamity.

If you're already dead, be thankful you won't have to deal with all that anymore.

The Ferines can't die out. The Merines... The Merines will save them. [He cares too much about his people, argh.] But the Orerines convinced her not to drown the entire world. So...
